2 WEEKS TO GHS! :D

Hi Everyone! (:

I hope you guys are all excited because 2011 Grab.Huck.Score is coming! The organising committee has been wrecking our brains on how to make this event an awesome one for you guys! We’ve been gathering the prizes (and boy are they awesome), items for our goodiebags (whoo~) and hyping up the atmosphere!

Official registration closed on the 16th of September 2011 and we’re proud to announce that this year, the number of participants increased (again) to 560 awesome ultimate players! :D We have 16 teams from the Internal and External Opens category, and 24 teams from the External Institutions!

The theme this year is HALLOWEEN so everyone should come dressed up! We’ll have judges roaming the area to decide who are the best dressed 7 as well as the best dressed team. Prizes for best dressed are SUPER AWESOME ($40/person and $200 for the team) so WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR. Make sure you’re all ready for HALLOWEEN this year!

Captains, please do keep a look out in your emails for information from our awesome Secretary, Cherlyn! Feel free to ask us any questions related to 2011GHS and we’ll do our best to answer you! Either email us at smuufc@sa.smu.edu.sg or leave a question on our FAQ page (tab above).

Love, 2011GHS :D

Grab.Huck.Score

It all started out in 2008 as a discussion between two Ultimate players who wanted an avenue to play Ultimate with friends from different clubs and places. Lacking which, they wondered: why couldn’t they try to organise one on their own instead?

Thus, the seeds for Grab.Huck.Score were sown, attracting an initial participation of 300 Ultimate players. Buoyed by the success of the inaugural event, successive batches of SMU Ultimate implemented dashes of their individual flavour to spice up Grab.Huck.Score; tenderly attending to its growth, and eventually creating a staple event in the annual tournament calendar of Singapore Ultimate.

Grab.Huck.Score applies a refreshing reformulation of Ultimate competition format, adopting a 5 per-side format played within a smaller field, in a deliberate attempt to quicken the pace of Ultimate that makes it easy on the eye and ideal for media and visual graphics. SMU Ultimate Frisbee’s decision to deviate from regular 7 per-side Ultimate has been vindicated by ever increasing number of participants each year.

In spite of the success attained thus far, Grab.Huck.Score aims to further cement and reach the pinnacle as the ne plus ultra of national Ultimate events, while casting an eye on attracting participants from around the South-east Asian region.
